PPRC Suspends APC Over Failure to Comply with Fines

Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has officially suspended the All People’s Congress (APC) Party from carrying out all political activities for failure to comply with fines imposed by the Commission.

In a letter dated 11th February 2026 and addressed to the National Secretary General of the APC, the Commission stated that the suspension follows the party’s violation of Section 39(1) of the Political Parties Act No. 25 of 2022. According to the PPRC, the APC was earlier found in breach of the Act, after which fines were imposed and formally communicated to the party on 2nd February 2026, including details of the amount, basis, and payment timeline.

The Commission noted that despite the expiration of the payment deadline on 10th February 2026 and several reminders issued to the party, the APC allegedly failed, refused, or neglected to settle the imposed fines.

Consequently, invoking its enforcement powers under the Political Parties Act, the PPRC announced the immediate suspension of the APC from conducting political activities. The suspension covers meetings, rallies, elections, administrative functions, and any operational actions until full compliance is achieved regarding payment of the outstanding fines.

The Commission emphasized that the suspension will remain in force until the APC settles the fines and receives written clearance restoring its operational status. It further urged the party to treat the matter with seriousness and expedite payment to avoid additional sanctions as prescribed by law.

The letter was signed by the Executive Secretary of the PPRC, Olushago A. David, and copied to the Chairman and Commissioners of the PPRC as well as the National Chairman of the APC.

As of press time, the APC had not publicly responded to the suspension notice.
