Falaba District — Reports reaching Radio Shalom indicate that on Monday, 23 February 2026, approximately 300 military personnel from the Republic of Guinea allegedly crossed into Sierra Leonean territory at Kaliyereh Village in Sulima Chiefdom, Falaba District.
According to local sources, the Guinean troops detained thirteen personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces and two officers of the Operational Support Division (OSD) of the Sierra Leone Police.
Guinean authorities reportedly claimed that the Sierra Leonean security personnel had encroached into Guinean territory, an allegation said to have prompted the arrests.
The reported incursion has heightened tension within the border community, with residents expressing concern over the presence of foreign troops in the area. Community members described the situation as unsettling, noting fears of possible escalation if swift diplomatic engagement is not undertaken.
As of press time, there has been no official statement from the Government of Sierra Leone or the Ministry of Defence regarding the incident.
