On Wednesday, February 17, 2026, Unify Actions and Advocacy for Human Dignity Sierra Leone (UAAHD-SL) conducted a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) training session at the National Lands Commission (NLC) office in Makeni.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Alhaji Bunduka, Research Lead at SilNoRF Makeni. It brought together key staff members, including the Public Relations Officer, Heads of Programmes, Monitoring and Evaluation personnel, and Social Mobilization Leads.
As a non-profit organization committed to supporting women and children in Makeni and across Sierra Leone, UAAHD-SL continues to prioritize capacity-building initiatives to strengthen accountability, transparency, and impact in its operations.
The training forms part of the organization’s broader strategy to ensure that every intervention is supported by accurate reporting, data-driven decision-making, and professional standards.
During the session, Mr. Bunduka emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between theory and practice in Monitoring and Evaluation. He provided clear distinctions between monitoring and evaluation, explaining how monitoring tracks project implementation while evaluation assesses overall impact and effectiveness. He also clarified the differences between managing individual projects and overseeing broader programmes.
Participants were introduced to key strategic tools, including the Logical Framework and Results Framework, and discussed how these tools support planning, implementation, and assessment. The session also addressed internal operational roles, particularly the responsibilities of staff in managing finances, materials, and reporting processes.
A significant portion of the training focused on data management. Staff members explored the differences between qualitative and quantitative data collection methods and learned how raw data can be analyzed and transformed into meaningful information to guide decision-making.
The interactive session, which included idea-sharing and a question-and-answer segment, strengthened participants’ understanding of why effective monitoring is essential for tracking progress, measuring outcomes, and improving organizational performance.
The training concluded with a renewed commitment from staff to apply the knowledge gained in strengthening programme delivery and advancing UAAHD-SL’s mission to promote human dignity.
